Minecraft stuck at downloading terrain

I'm trying to log on to bltadwin.ru and I can get into the HUB server alright but after I click a server it always says 'Downloading Terrain' and I usually get stuck on that screen for about 5 minutes or I crash. Whenever i try to join the server i just get stuck on downloading terrain for a few minutes, after which i either get on the server, but every action i do is delayed for a ton of time or i just get timed out.
